Turks Head Garden
The Turks Head was a pub in the centre of Wapping, London which survived the Blitz. A local charity The Turks Head Company (which was set up in 1992 dedicated to improving Wapping) bought and restored the building, and turned it into a cafe and offices for the charity.
When living in Wapping from 2008 to 2010, I became involved with the charity and set up a community gardening group based at the Turks Head. We built a square raised bed and planted with a mixture of herbs and vegetables that were used by the cafe.
Interesting fact: The Morrissey music video for the song "We hate it when our friends become successful" was filmed in Wapping and shows the Turks Head just before it was renovated.
