Active Meadowlands

Coventry Council obtained funding from the Football Foundation Sport to turn an under-used public space with anti-social behaviour problems into a community sports facility.

The site is long and narrow and so the challenge was to accommodate the ball courts, whilst at the same time providing a variety of other spaces for viewing the sports, and for more informal use and enjoyment.

The proposed design solution was to angle the ball-courts so they could share a terraced viewing area, and to arrange the activities so the noisier activities were at one end of the park, and the quieter garden at the other end. I was the project lead from inception to producing the initial designs when the project was put on hold.
